How To Form The Perfect Skin Care Regimen Before Your Wedding

How To Form The Perfect Skin Care Regimen Before Your Wedding
Getting engaged and prepping for your wedding is an exciting stage of life!

You want to look and feel your best on your wedding day, and your skin plays a significant role in that.

From finding a venue to mailing your save the date cards, you already know that the big day is all about planning and getting things done months in advance! With a little preparation and dedication to your daily skincare routine, you’ll be radiant on your wedding day.

HOW TO PICK YOUR SKINCARE PRODUCTS
The best way to know what skincare products are right for you is to visit an aesthetician. Licensed aestheticians can give you personalized recommendations for skincare products and services to get you clear, glowing skin. Once you know your skin type — common skin types are dry, oily, normal, combination, and sensitive — you can better form your perfect skincare regimen.

At Fort Wayne Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, our aestheticians can also create a custom skin care package based on your skin type and needs. Our skin care packages will improve your skin health and will meet your overall goals.

HOW TO FOLLOW A DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE
Once you’ve learned what products to use, it’s time to establish that perfect skincare regimen.

It can be hard to remember what order to use your products in when you’re first starting out. Remember the general rule of using products in order of thinnest to thickest.

You always want to begin with a cleanser. A little goes a long way! Next, use an exfoliator. It’s typically best to exfoliate two to three times a week. After cleansing and exfoliating, you can use a toner. This helps prepare your skin to soak in the rest of your products and helps balance your skin’s PH levels. Serums and lotions — like retinol, anti-aging products, or brightening serums — come next. Last, apply moisturizer and SPF. Use SPF even when it’s not sunny to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that still reach your skin.

While that’s a general guideline to follow, your aesthetician can advise you on any adjustments to make. Your daily skincare regimen can be simple and quick while still being highly effective.

HOW TO PREP FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY
As the big day approaches, there are some dos and don’ts to keep in mind concerning your skin.

Dos

  • Do a trial run of your wedding day hair and makeup. All the work you’ve done to prepare your skin won’t matter as much if you don’t like your look the day of.
  • Do pay attention to your stress levels and the amount of sleep you’re getting. Caring for your skin goes beyond the products you use for your daily skincare routine — your whole lifestyle impacts your skin. Having high stress levels and not getting enough sleep can have negative effects on your skin like inflammation, acne, and clogged pores. Luckily, getting custom treatments can be a relaxing experience in the midst of wedding planning.
  • Do schedule your other aesthetic treatments ahead of your wedding. Some treatments require multiple sessions for best results.

Don’ts

  • Don’t change your skincare routine right before your wedding. That isn’t the time to try new products that may irritate your skin.
  • Don’t try brand new aesthetic treatments right before your wedding. You don’t want to be still healing or unable to allow the proper time between sessions if multiple are needed.
  • Don’t eat food that could inflame your skin. If your goal is to achieve glowing skin, eating nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables and drinking plenty of water can help you achieve that.
