Whether you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles between your eyebrows, add volume to your face, or have plumper lips, neurotoxins or fillers are what can help.
At Fort Wayne Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, we offer injectable fillers, meaning the filler is a type of injection. However, fillers and neurotoxins serve different purposes.
Here’s the difference between neurotoxins and fillers, from what they consist of to what result they’ll give you.
WHAT FILLERS DO AND WHAT NEUROTOXINS DO
Filler can be used to temporarily add volume, smooth wrinkles, and plump areas on the face like lips. Filler blocks the impulse from the nerve to the muscle in order to soften wrinkles. Filler can contour, plump, or lift depending on where it’s placed.
Neurotoxins can temporarily improve the appearance of skin concerns like frown lines and wrinkles. Within days of a neurotoxin procedure, you’ll see the difference, and neurotoxins have minimal downtime and can be used to treat different problems.
WHAT FILLERS ARE MADE OF
Most fillers are hyaluronic acid based. Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by the body to provide volume, elasticity, and moisture. The fillers we offer, Juvederm and Restylane, both consist of hyaluronic acid. These fillers restore volume to the skin, which can help you achieve a more youthful look.
WHERE FILLER CAN BE USED
The injectable fillers that we offer include Juvederm and Restylane. Common areas on the face where filler is used include the nasolabial, also known as laugh lines; marionette lines; lips; the upper lip, to get rid of the vertical lip lines known as smokers lip; earlobes; tear troughs, to smooth under tired eyes; cheeks; chin; and the jawline. Filler can lift and enhance these areas, as well as smooth them in ways products cannot.
WHAT NEUROTOXINS ARE MADE OF
Botox and Dysport, the neurotoxins we offer, both come from the botulinum toxin. These work to relax muscles in the face. They temporarily block muscle activity to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Your results will depend on the number of neurotoxins you get.
WHERE NEUROTOXINS CAN BE USED
Dysport and Botox are commonly used in areas around the face. Neurotoxins can be used on areas like horizontal forehead line, frown lines, radial lip lines, crows feet, marionette lines, the chin line, or square or wide jawline.
